Getting Started

Whether this is your first time coming to see a psychologist, or you've been before, our goal is to have the first session be focused on asking you questions in order to get to know you better, and to gain a greater understanding of your goals.

For those coming in for family therapy, parents/caregivers may prefer to meet individually without their child/teen for the first session, and then bring their child/teen to the second meeting. We are more than happy to accommodate the various ways families would like to initiate the therapeutic process, and can talk more about this during the initial phone consultation.

For those reaching out for couples therapy, each member of the couple is welcome to call and consult with the therapist prior to the first appointment. After the consultation, during the first session, both partners are seen together. Then each partner is seen individually to get a comprehensive picture of the couple from both a relational and individual level. The primary goal of the first three sessions are to determine the goals of therapy.

In order to set up the first therapy meeting, we would need to first set up a free brief phone consultation, which usually lasts about 20 minutes, where we can discuss your goals and reasons for seeking therapy support. During this call you can ask any questions that you have.

You can initiate the therapy process by calling us at the number listed below, sending an e-mail with the best times to reach you, or sending a message through the 'Contact' tab on the Navigation Bar above.
